What is a Registered Agent ?
All companies in the United States of America are required to appoint a Registered Agent in the jurisdiction where they were created. The main task of a Registered Agent is to accept official documents and judicial notifications in case the company is sued.
In this regard, the Registered Agent accepts official notices and forwards them to the address provided by the members of the company. A company's Registered Agent must be available to receive legal documents during normal business hours, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Companies that do not have a Registered Agent may be penalized and run the risk of losing their status before the jurisdiction where it was created.
